P3/4/5
P3/4/5 have had a very busy start to this school year. We have enjoyed working on our hand/eye co-ordination and building tennis skills over at Hay St tennis club and would like to thank their coach Craig Cameron for supporting us in getting access to such a brilliant facility. In school we’ve been developing our Curling skills and can now draw, guard, knock back and hit!
We have learned about developing a growth mindset when we find new learning challenging and have been applying our knowledge of the learning pit to our numeracy and literacy. We all know mistakes help us learn.
In numeracy we’ve deepened our knowledge and understanding of place value, rounding, position and movement and we have started addition (which we will continue next term). We have used the iPads to support our learning by playing lots of maths games.
In literacy we have been using the descriptor bubble to write increasingly detailed character descriptions, with particular focus on accurate punctuation.
Our topic this term has been the class novel ‘The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane’ through which we have extended our vocabulary, explored the North Atlantic and night skies, investigated baking, created art works and we are now designing and making our own finger puppet.
